If we were all blind

December 2, 2014 at 12:19 pm (Uncategorized)

If the entire humanity were blind, would we somehow realise the existence of light? Or differentiate between colours?

We all know that colours are beautiful. That our world will be incomplete without light and boring and dull without colors. But for someone who has never seen the light of day, how do you explain what it is? How do you say what red or green looks like? Except to teach them physics and everything about wavelengths. Which is so difficult for some that they’ll just ignore it. Somehow this went from wonder to science, but aren’t they related…

Coming back, now imagine that there is one person who is not blind. She can see, not well, not far away, and not colours, but just a vague sense of light. What will the others think of her? And will anybody listen?

What if this is true? What if instead of light, we are missing something even more beautiful? And calling those who do see it, mad?
